A temperature excursion alarm is an automated monitoring system within the cold chain that triggers an immediate alert whenever cargo temperature moves outside pre-defined thresholds—whether the product is too warm or unintentionally frozen. Notifications are delivered via SMS, email, or fleet management dashboards, giving operators the window they need to intervene before product damage becomes irreversible. In pharmaceutical logistics, GDP guidelines mandate complete documentation of every deviation; food transport operates under equivalent obligations derived from HACCP principles. The alarm records generated by these systems carry significant legal weight: in liability disputes between shippers, carriers, and consignees, they can determine who bears responsibility for a product loss.
