A swap body is an interchangeable freight unit whose load-carrying body can be detached from and remounted on a road chassis without any lifting equipment, thanks to integrated support legs. Widely used in European road haulage and combined rail-road transport, swap bodies comply with standardised dimensions that allow transfer onto rail wagons at intermodal terminals. Unlike ISO shipping containers, they are not stackable and not built for sea transport; their natural territory is continental, short-to-medium-distance logistics.
