The most widely recognised programmes include the EU's AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) certificate, the US C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism), ISO 28001 for supply chain security, and BASC (Business Alliance for Secure Commerce). A valid certification can unlock customs facilitation, reduced border inspection times, and a competitive edge when tendering for contracts. It should not be confused with general quality certification such as ISO 9001, which addresses process quality rather than security controls.
