Freight forwarders typically manage these three release tracks in parallel to reduce dwell time and avoid detention costs. Delays from missing documents or physical inspections can range from a few hours to several days depending on the port. Across many European terminals, PIN-based digital release systems are increasingly replacing paper documents, streamlining the handover process.
