# Professional Driver Hazardous Goods Training

When a professional driver is assigned to carry dangerous goods, the ADR Convention (European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) applies and requires a dedicated additional qualification. Training covers the classification of hazardous substances, packaging and labelling requirements, loading and handling rules, and emergency response procedures. The ADR certificate is time-limited and must be renewed at set intervals for the driver to remain authorised to transport dangerous cargo. Unlike the general CPC qualification under EU Directive 2003/59/EC, the ADR certificate is a stand-alone document; its scope depends on the hazard classes covered – basic training, tank vehicle training, and class-specific modules are each obtained separately.
