> Unlike a simple advance notification, presentation under transit refers to the formal act of producing goods to the competent customs office during an active transit procedure.

Unlike a simple advance notification, presentation under transit refers to the formal act of producing goods to the competent customs office during an active transit procedure. The carrier or authorized customs agent presents the goods together with the transit accompanying document; customs then confirms proper arrival and, where applicable, authorizes continuation of the journey under customs seal. This obligation arises from the applicable transit rules – such as the common transit procedure – and applies in particular at intermediate customs offices or at border crossings. Failure to present goods on time, or failure to present them at all, can trigger a customs debt.
