> Safe transport starts with a clear packaging instruction.

Safe transport starts with a clear packaging instruction. This document – also referred to as a packing specification – sets out in binding terms which materials, cushioning methods, securing techniques, and markings must be used for a specific product or product category to ensure it survives transit undamaged. Packaging instructions draw from multiple sources: statutory dangerous goods requirements, such as packing instruction codes in IATA-DGR for air freight or equivalent codes in the IMDG Code for sea freight, customer delivery specifications, and the shipper's own internal quality standards. In freight forwarding and warehousing, they serve as the authoritative reference for cargo preparation, quality control, and damage claim assessments. Unlike the packaging itself, a packaging instruction does not describe the finished result but defines the process and materials used to achieve it.
