Onboarding is the one-time registration process by which a company registers as a business partner of the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) on the ePortal in order to use Swiss Customs' digital services (e.g. Passar, Declar, LSVA). Any business importing or exporting goods to or from Switzerland must complete onboarding: only afterwards can goods declarations and transport declarations be submitted in Passar or duties be settled. The process has three steps. First, a personal user account is created on the ePortal; sign-in uses AGOV, which has replaced the former CH-LOGIN since 7 September 2025. Second, the company records its business relationship as a BAZG business partner; the BAZG then automatically sends a verification letter to the company address held in the UID register (delivery usually within 2–3 working days). Third, the onboarding code contained in the letter is redeemed, securely linking the personal account to the business partner. User and authorisation management in the ePortal then governs which person may use which services and business-partner roles; master data of business partners is maintained via Connex and assigned a Business Partner ID (GP-ID). This official onboarding must be distinguished from general customer or carrier onboarding in freight forwarding – here it refers exclusively to registration with Swiss Customs.
