This deadline is the latest point by which the office of destination must confirm the goods' arrival and formally close the transit procedure in the system. It starts running from authorisation of the departure declaration and depends on the agreed transit route and the requirements of the relevant customs authority. A missed deadline triggers an enquiry procedure at the office of departure, which may put the principal's lodged guarantee at risk. The completion deadline is distinct from the presentation deadline: the latter concerns arrival at a border customs office, whereas the completion deadline governs the entire transit through to final closure at destination.
