> Unlike a packing list, which records what is being shipped, a loading instruction defines how goods must be physically arranged inside a vehicle or container.

Unlike a packing list, which records what is being shipped, a loading instruction defines how goods must be physically arranged inside a vehicle or container. It specifies loading sequence, item orientation, stacking restrictions, and cargo securing methods – strapping, dunnage, lashing, anti-slip mats – along with weight limits per loading unit and any requirements for hazardous or fragile freight. In day-to-day forwarding and warehousing, the document bridges the gap between order paperwork and safe, legally compliant vehicle loading. It is prepared by the shipper, freight forwarder, or warehouse team and handed to the driver before departure.
