Lashing point load calculation is an engineering procedure that quantifies the forces acting on the cargo-securing attachment points of a vehicle or vessel. Input parameters include cargo mass, vehicle-specific acceleration values for braking, cornering and vertical vibration, the coefficient of friction between cargo and loading surface, and the angle and attachment method of each lashing device. The result demonstrates whether a given lashing configuration meets the requirements of the EN 12195 series or equivalent standards. In freight practice, a cargo-securing engineer or qualified specialist performs the calculation and records it in the lashing plan – a document that serves as evidence during roadside inspections or in the event of a claim. The calculation must not be confused with the lashing plan itself: the calculation is the technical basis; the plan is the operational instruction derived from it.
