It accounts for driving dynamics such as cornering, emergency braking, and vibration, as well as the cargo's weight and centre of gravity. Freight carrier, shipper, and often the insurer must review and sign off the document; in the event of damage or an accident, it serves as primary evidence of compliant cargo securing and is central to liability assessment. A lashing plan should not be confused with a stowage plan, which governs load placement within the transport unit rather than its physical restraint.
