An automotive plant has four hours before its engine component stock runs out – the truck must arrive on the minute. Just-in-Time logistics (JIT) is the supply chain principle of delivering shipments precisely when the consignee needs them, with no buffer storage at origin or destination. Freight forwarders align collection, routing, customs clearance, and final delivery so tightly that inventory shrinks to a minimum and working capital is freed up. JIT is firmly established in automotive supply chains, electronics assembly, and perishable goods transport. The downside is equally clear: any disruption – congestion, strikes, customs delays – hits production directly, with no stock cushion to absorb the impact. Unlike Just-in-Sequence (JIS), JIT focuses on the correct delivery timing rather than the production-line order of incoming parts.
