An automotive supplier receives the call-off: three red seats first, then two black, then one blue – and that exact sequence pulls up at the receiving dock. Just-in-Sequence (JIS) is the logistics discipline requiring both time and order synchronization simultaneously: parts arrive not only at the right moment but in the precise sequence in which they will be installed. Line-side buffer zones are eliminated, transshipment stations become redundant, and the risk of mis-sorted parts drops sharply. Reliable data exchange via EDI or web-based pull systems, geographic proximity between supplier and plant, and robust process controls are all prerequisites. JIS extends the Just-in-Time principle by making delivery order a second binding constraint alongside timing.
