Unlike barcode systems, RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) needs no line of sight: a reader captures data from one or multiple transponders simultaneously, simply by proximity. In logistics, RFID tags are fixed to pallets, load carriers, or individual items; readers mounted at warehouse gates, conveyor belts, or vehicles record movements automatically without manual scanning. This enables real-time inventory visibility, faster goods receipt and dispatch, and end-to-end traceability across the supply chain. RFID is not the same as NFC – both rely on radio technology, but NFC is designed for very short read ranges and smaller data payloads.
