Airlines, freight forwarders, and customs authorities process air cargo shipments through the electronic Air Waybill (eAWB), replacing paper at every stage with a standardized data record transmitted directly among shipper, forwarder, carrier, and customs. This eliminates manual re-keying and the transcription errors that come with it. Airport clearance is noticeably faster, and real-time shipment visibility improves for all parties simultaneously. Participation requires that all actors are certified under IATA standards and connected via IATA Cargo-XML messaging. Unlike a paper AWB, the eAWB automatically generates an auditable digital trail from cargo acceptance through to final delivery.
