Underwriters and brokers turn to the Institute Cargo Clauses C (ICC C) when shipping goods with low damage sensitivity that require only a minimum, precisely defined level of cover. ICC C are standardised marine cargo insurance conditions covering named perils only: fire, explosion, vessel stranding or capsizing, collision, and jettison. General transit risks, theft, ordinary wear and tear, and war or strike damage remain excluded unless separately endorsed. ICC B extends protection to additional named perils, while ICC A provides full all-risks coverage – both at higher premiums. In practice, ICC C are most commonly selected for bulk commodities, raw materials, or robust industrial goods where named-peril total loss is the primary exposure.
