Any discrepancies—shortages, overages, damaged goods, or missing lot numbers—are recorded immediately to support supplier claims. Only after successful inspection are goods considered available for production or order fulfillment. Goods receipt is therefore the boundary between the external supply chain and the internal inventory. It is distinct from outbound logistics, which handles customer dispatches rather than supplier deliveries.
