They regulate temperature and humidity continuously; advanced units also manage atmospheric composition – reducing oxygen levels or adjusting CO₂ concentrations to slow the ripening of fresh produce, a technique known as controlled atmosphere (CA). Onboard sensors transmit readings in real time to shippers and carriers, enabling immediate intervention if parameters drift.
