An IATA Time and Temperature Sensitive Label is a standardized marking element for air cargo shipments that must remain within defined temperature ranges and reach their destination within critical time windows. Colour codes, pictograms, or machine-readable elements alert handling staff and ground agents to the shipment's specific requirements at every transfer point. The label is indispensable in pharmaceutical and perishable logistics, where even brief temperature excursions can render an entire consignment unusable. IATA Perishable Cargo Regulations require the label to be affixed to at least two clearly visible outer surfaces of the shipment. A missing or illegible label exposes the freight forwarder and carrier to liability and may result in cargo rejection at destination.
