Heat shrink packaging comes into play when a product needs to be enclosed and sealed in a single operation: a thermoplastic film – typically polyolefin or PVC – is wrapped around the item and then shrunk tight by passing through a heat tunnel or under an infrared source. The result is a transparent, contour-hugging wrap with a clear tamper-evident function, since any breach of the film is immediately visible. Common applications include multi-packs such as beverage six-packs, cosmetic sets, and bundled goods, as well as individual items requiring product protection or strong shelf presentation. Unlike stretch wrap, which stabilises pallet loads, heat shrink film encloses the product itself and is classified as consumer or retail packaging.
