An online retailer in Hong Kong ships a parcel worth 45 euros to Germany – the forwarder declares it to customs using the simplified H7 procedure instead of filling out the full standard declaration. The H7 customs declaration is a heavily reduced dataset for import consignments with an intrinsic value up to 150 euros, mandatory since the EU abolished the duty exemption for small parcels on July 1, 2026. It requires only the data needed for VAT collection, including a six-digit commodity code, and is usually processed via the IOSS scheme.
