Logistics and supply chain planners use the outputs to secure cargo capacity ahead of time, right-size vehicle fleets, and adjust network configurations. Inaccurate forecasts produce either stranded capacity and excess cost or shortfalls that translate into delivery delays and customer attrition. Short-term operational forecasts covering a few weeks are methodologically quite different from multi-year strategic forecasts – and generally deliver better accuracy.
