# EZV (former Swiss Federal Customs Administration / FCA)

> The Eidgenössische Zollverwaltung (EZV), in English the Federal Customs Administration (FCA), was the name of the Swiss customs authority until the end of 2021.

The Eidgenössische Zollverwaltung (EZV), in English the Federal Customs Administration (FCA), was the name of the Swiss customs authority until the end of 2021. Since 1 January 2022 it has been called the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG / FOCBS). Old forms, contracts or search queries mentioning "EZV" therefore refer to the same authority as today's BAZG.

The renaming was part of the DaziT transformation programme and the "EZV 2026" strategy. The Federal Council decided it on 12 June 2020; it took effect on 1 January 2022. Customs and the Border Guard were merged organisationally into a single professional profile, and the digitalisation of customs processing (Passar, Declar, Activ App, ePortal) was anchored. The earlier "Directorate General of Customs (OZD)" also dates from the EZV era.

For forwarders, hauliers, customs agents and trading firms: the legal bases, accounts and procedures of the EZV continue to apply unchanged under the BAZG; new documents and systems consistently use "BAZG". Not to be confused with foreign customs administrations.
