When a production line goes down and a critical spare part must arrive within hours, expedited transport is the solution. Shipments move with highest priority: direct routing with no intermediate buffering, dedicated vehicles and drivers, and relay handovers at borders where necessary to comply with driving-time regulations. Costs run well above standard road freight rates but typically fall below emergency air cargo. The defining features are contractually binding delivery windows and penalty clauses for late arrival. Unlike network-based express services, expedited transport is individually organised for each consignment – not a scheduled product but an on-demand operation.
