Exclusion zones for hazardous cargo are clearly delineated safety perimeters around warehouses, transshipment points, and loading areas that handle dangerous goods, restricted to trained and authorised personnel only. They protect bystanders from the hazards of explosive, toxic, corrosive, or flammable substances and limit the spread of leaks, fires, or contamination should an incident occur. In road transport, such zones are required under ADR and applicable national dangerous goods legislation; for sea and air freight, the IMDG Code and the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations apply respectively.
