Euro-Pallet Standardization in Freight defines the specifications pallets must meet to move freely through European supply chains: a 1,200 × 800 mm footprint, certified timber quality, and conformity with both EPAL rules and ISO 6780. These requirements ensure a consistent fit in truck loading bays, forklift guides, and automated warehouse systems regardless of the country of transshipment. Freight forwarders and consignees inspect pallets at each handover; non-compliant dimensions or damaged block corners can result in rejection or delivery delays. Unlike single-use pallets, EPAL-certified pallets participate in exchange pool systems and must pass re-inspection after any repair.
