The EU Customs Single Window (EU CSW) connects national customs platforms with sector-specific bodies – covering food safety, plant health and product conformity, among others – so that data is entered once and distributed automatically. For freight forwarders and importers, this cuts clearance times and reduces the administrative burden considerably. Grounded in the Union Customs Code (UCC), the EU-level initiative establishes a cross-border harmonised infrastructure that goes beyond the national single windows of individual member states, which typically cover only domestic procedures.
