Emissions management is the structured process of measuring, analysing, and reducing greenhouse gases and air pollutants generated across transport and logistics operations. Carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers use dedicated software to consolidate consumption data across fleets, routes, and transport modes. On the regulatory side, sea freight operators in the EU are subject to MRV reporting requirements, while road transport faces European and national fleet CO₂ targets. Shippers increasingly demand granular emissions data to feed their own supply-chain carbon accounting under frameworks such as the GHG Protocol. Emissions management should not be confused with carbon offsetting: the focus here is on actual reduction at source, not compensatory mechanisms applied after the fact.
