The EFTA–Mexico Free Trade Agreement eliminates import duties on the vast majority of industrial goods traded between the EFTA member states (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) and Mexico, while also covering selected agricultural products and services. Exporters and importers rely on this agreement to reduce landed costs and strengthen competitiveness in their respective markets. Preferential tariff treatment is conditional on meeting the agreement's rules of origin and presenting a valid proof of origin—typically a EUR.1 certificate or an origin declaration on the invoice. Importantly, the EFTA–Mexico FTA applies only to goods originating in one of the four EFTA states, not to European goods broadly; companies sourcing inputs from EU countries must assess cumulation eligibility separately.
