e-dec Web is the free internet application of the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) that lets private individuals and occasional declarants prepare a customs declaration for the import or export of commercial goods themselves on a computer and submit it to the customs office – without their own clearance software. All that is needed is a computer with internet access and a printer. For professionals and shippers: e-dec Web has been in operation for imports since early 2012 (later extended to exports) and replaced the paper Single Administrative Document for the definitive import of commercial goods (form 11.010); with the obligation to declare electronically from 1 January 2013, the electronic customs declaration became the standard. The system offers guided data entry with help texts, plausibility and validation checks, locally storable templates and – for imports – provisional declarations and the declaration of quota/managed goods. Distinction: e-dec Web is the web entry mask for occasional declarants and differs from e-dec Import and e-dec Export, the message-based interfaces (software connection) for commercial declarants with high volumes, and from QuickZoll, the app for declaring private goods in travel traffic. Like e-dec as a whole, e-dec Web is being replaced by the new Passar goods-traffic system under the DaziT programme; the Declar web application is its successor and is planned to replace e-dec Web by the end of Q3 2027 (the exact date will be communicated later – planning status, subject to change). Not to be confused with the assessment decision (eVV), which is only issued after the declaration as legal proof. Related terms: e-dec, e-dec Import, e-dec Export, Passar, Declar, BAZG, DaziT, goods declaration (Switzerland), customs declaration, assessment decision. As of: June 2026.
