# e-dec export shut-down

> The e-dec export shut-down refers to the decommissioning of Switzerland's e-dec platform for electronic export declarations, replaced by the new goods-traffic system Passar (stage Passar 1.0 Export) of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG).

The e-dec export shut-down refers to the decommissioning of Switzerland's e-dec platform for electronic export declarations, replaced by the new goods-traffic system Passar (stage Passar 1.0 Export) of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG). For private individuals and shippers it simply means that exports from Switzerland are now declared via Passar instead of e-dec Export. Since 1 January 2026, Passar Export has been mandatory and e-dec Export is generally no longer available. Earlier still – on 30 April 2024 – the NCTS transit system was switched off. For freight forwarders, hauliers and customs agents, all export goods declarations now run through Passar, complemented by a separate transport declaration; only narrowly defined exceptions allowed temporary continued use of e-dec Export (for example the export of tobacco products with BAZG authorisation, and transition dates individually agreed with the BAZG). The changeover is part of the DaziT digitalisation programme. Unlike the import side – where the last e-dec import declaration is possible on 30 September 2027 (replaced by Passar 2.0 Import) – this measure concerns exports only. Not to be confused with the e-dec import shut-down. Status: June 2026.
