# e-dec End-of-Life

> e-dec End-of-Life refers to the end of the lifecycle (the decommissioning) of the Swiss customs system e-dec, which the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) is replacing with the new Passar goods-traffic system as part of the DaziT programme.

e-dec End-of-Life refers to the end of the lifecycle (the decommissioning) of the Swiss customs system e-dec, which the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) is replacing with the new Passar goods-traffic system as part of the DaziT programme. The term does not mean the end of life of physical goods, but the planned shutdown of the e-dec applications themselves. The exit is staggered: export via e-dec Export has not been possible since 1 January 2026 (replaced by Passar 1.0 Export); for imports, the last declaration in e-dec Import is possible, under current BAZG planning, on 30 September 2027 (replaced by Passar 2.0 Import); the free web application e-dec Web will be replaced by the new Declar web application by the end of Q3 2027. For freight forwarders, importers, exporters and customs agents, this end-of-life means: switching software interfaces in good time, registering in the BAZG ePortal with the appropriate business-partner roles, and noting that e-dec data is not migrated to Passar automatically.
