DSA is the common abbreviation for the Digital Services Act, EU Regulation 2022/2065 on digital services. In day-to-day forwarding and customs work, the DSA is most visible in e-commerce: online marketplaces must identify traders before activation, quickly remove unsafe or counterfeit products, and document their risk controls. For importers and freight forwarders this means: a listing on a major platform is no proof of product conformity — product safety, CE marking and trademark rights still have to be checked before importing into the EU single market, otherwise customs holds and seizures loom. The European Commission directly supervises very large platforms (VLOPs with more than 45 million users in the EU) and can impose fines of up to 6 percent of worldwide annual turnover; the record fine against AliExpress in 2026 demonstrates practical enforcement. Not to be confused with the DMA (Digital Markets Act) or — in the US context — the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
