CZV training is the legally required continuing professional development programme for commercial drivers in Swiss road freight transport. Under the Chauffeurenzulassungsverordnung (CZV – Swiss driver licensing ordinance), professional drivers must complete periodic training modules to keep their commercial driving licence valid. Courses cover road safety, driving and rest times, load securing, vehicle technology, and fuel-efficient driving. Transport operators bear responsibility for ensuring their drivers meet renewal deadlines; failure to comply may result in fines and withdrawal of the professional licence. The CZV is Switzerland's counterpart to the EU Directive on the initial qualification and periodic training of drivers (2003/59/EC), but applies solely within Switzerland and to Swiss-registered vehicles.
