> The Digital Services Act, abbreviated DSA, is EU Regulation 2022/2065.

The Digital Services Act, abbreviated DSA, is EU Regulation 2022/2065. It obliges online platforms, marketplaces and search engines to systematically combat illegal content and products, assess risks and report on them transparently. Since 17 February 2024, the DSA applies to all platforms in the EU; very large online platforms (VLOPs) with more than 45 million monthly users in the EU face stricter obligations under the direct supervision of the European Commission. Violations can result in fines of up to 6 percent of worldwide annual turnover. The regulation is directly relevant to logistics and e-commerce: marketplaces must identify their traders (Know Your Business Customer) and remove unsafe or counterfeit products — which affects import controls and product conformity in the EU single market. Not to be confused with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which regulates the market power of large gatekeeper platforms.
