The term covers the physical unloading of goods from the transport unit and the formal handover to the recipient or an intermediate facility, together with all required documentation. In day-to-day freight operations, solid delivery evidence – a signed delivery note, timestamp, and photographic record where necessary – forms the primary basis for resolving damage or loss claims. As a general concept, delivery encompasses the entire handover process; last-mile delivery refers specifically to the final leg from a distribution hub to the end customer.
