# Delivered at Place Unloaded (DPU)

*Last updated: 2026-06-26*

> Unlike any other Incoterm, DPU – Delivered at Place Unloaded – explicitly places the unloading obligation on the seller at the named destination.

Unlike any other Incoterm, DPU – Delivered at Place Unloaded – explicitly places the unloading obligation on the seller at the named destination. This sets it apart from DAP, where the seller delivers goods ready for unloading but leaves the act itself to the buyer. The seller bears all costs and risks through completion of discharge, covering export clearance, carriage, and handling. Once unloaded, risk and cost transfer entirely to the buyer, who is responsible for import clearance, duties, and onward transport. In practice, sellers must confirm they have genuine unloading access at the destination – not a given at buyer-controlled terminals or factory sites. DPU was introduced in Incoterms 2020, replacing the former DAT (Delivered at Terminal).
