DAP (Delivered at Place) gives the seller full control over transport to the named destination while stopping short of handling import clearance – that responsibility remains with the buyer. Delivery is complete when the goods arrive at the agreed place and are ready for unloading from the incoming vehicle, still on board. The seller covers all freight costs, export formalities, and risks up to that point; the buyer takes on unloading, import duties, and customs clearance. DAP works across all transport modes and has become a standard choice for international road and sea shipments where sellers want to offer door delivery without taking on import liability. For shipments where unloading is also the seller's duty, DPU applies; where import duties are included, DDP is the relevant term.
