DAP (Delivered At Place) transfers risk to the buyer only when the goods are placed at the buyer's disposal at the named place of destination, ready for unloading. Unlike earlier Incoterms such as CIF or FOB, the seller bears all transport risks and costs up to that point, including export clearance and main carriage. The seller remains liable for loss or damage during transit; the buyer assumes all further responsibilities from the moment goods are made available for unloading.
