Unlike DDP, DAP (Delivered at Place) requires the seller to bear all freight costs and risks to the named destination, but leaves import clearance, duties, and taxes entirely with the buyer. Delivery is deemed complete once the goods arrive at the agreed location on the incoming transport, ready for unloading – without any obligation on the seller to unload. DAP is mode-neutral and works across sea, air, rail, and road transport. For exporters, the key advantage is avoiding exposure to import-country customs processes, while buyers retain full control over clearance. It differs from DDP, where the seller also covers import duties, and from DPU, which additionally includes unloading at destination.
