# Customs Law Revision (Total Revision of Swiss Customs Law)

> The customs law revision (Zollgesetzrevision) is the total revision of Swiss customs law, replacing the former Customs Act (ZG) of 2005 with two new acts: the BAZG Enforcement Tasks Act (BAZG-VG), covering the "general part" of duty collection and the control of the cross-border movement of goods and persons, and the Customs Duties Act (ZoG), governing the substantive customs duties (amount and levying).

For professionals – freight forwarders, hauliers, customs agents and trading companies – it provides the legal basis for the digitalised customs processes in the new Passar goods-traffic system (goods declaration, transport declaration, activation, assessment) and consolidates procedural, data-protection, risk-analysis and criminal-law provisions. The revision is closely linked to the BAZG digitalisation programme DaziT. Legislative status (planning, as of June 2026): Parliament adopted the bill in the final vote of the 2025 summer session; the referendum period lapsed unused on 13 October 2025. The staged entry into force of the BAZG-VG and ZoG is set by the Federal Council – together with the related ordinance law, which first goes to consultation – and had not yet been definitively scheduled in June 2026; details may change.
