Freight forwarders and customs brokers reconcile this information against the commercial invoice, packing list, and transport documents. Discrepancies identified only after submission can trigger post-clearance audits, penalty duties, or border delays. Thorough verification is therefore not a procedural formality but a direct cost-control measure that also protects importers and exporters from inadvertent compliance breaches.
