For importers and freight forwarders, this creates a tangible working capital advantage—funds are not tied up in duty payments before goods are sold or further processed. Bonded warehouses are particularly suited to seasonal cargo flows, transit shipments, and goods whose final destination market is not yet determined at the time of import. Unlike a free zone, which is a designated customs territory, a bonded warehouse is an individually licensed facility operated by a single approved entity under a specific customs authorization.
