Manufacturers and importers must independently assess hazards and apply standardized pictograms, signal words, and hazard and precautionary statements to product labels. A safety data sheet covering handling, storage, and emergency response information must accompany the substance or mixture. For chemical shippers, CLP intersects directly with dangerous goods transport law: the classification assigned under CLP typically determines the hazard class and packing group under ADR, the IMDG Code, and IATA-DGR. CLP is distinct from the REACH Regulation, though the two regimes are closely interlinked in practice.
