A CHEP pallet is a standardized, reusable wooden or plastic pallet that logistics group CHEP does not sell but leases through a globally managed pool system. Shippers and forwarders pay a usage fee and return the pallet to the nearest CHEP service centre after delivery; CHEP handles inspection, repair, and cleaning centrally. The model eliminates the procurement and disposal burden of single-use pallets and reduces pallet inventories across the supply chain. CHEP pallets are instantly recognizable by their distinctive blue colour and are predominantly used in consumer goods, food, and beverage supply chains. Unlike the EUR-pallet exchange system—where one pallet handed over must be replaced by an equivalent one—CHEP operates on a return basis, which simplifies quality control and asset tracking.
