The business partner role (Geschäftspartnerrolle) is the function through which a company is enabled for specific digital services in the ePortal of the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG). After a one-time registration as a BAZG business partner (onboarding), the company selects the roles matching its activities – for example "Fracht" (freight) for customs/goods declarations, "Transport" for the transport process (e.g. Activ App, Digital Transport Slip) or "LSVA Halter" for the heavy-vehicle charge. Within a role, individual permissions are granted via the ePortal user management, such as "Deklarant (Fracht)" for creating goods declarations. Forwarders, hauliers, customs agents and trading companies need the appropriate business partner role to work in Passar, Declar and other BAZG applications. Not to be confused with mere user/login management: the business partner role determines which services the company may use at all, whereas user management governs which person holds which rights.
