BAZG-VG is the common abbreviation for the BAZG-Vollzugsaufgabengesetz, the new Swiss federal law on the enforcement tasks of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG). It governs the "general part" of duty collection and the control of the cross-border movement of goods and persons by the BAZG. For freight forwarders, hauliers, customs agents and trading companies, the BAZG-VG is the legal basis for the fully digital customs processes around the Passar goods-traffic system (goods declaration, transport declaration, assessment) and consolidates procedural, data-protection, risk-analysis and criminal-law provisions in a single act. It was created as part of the total revision of customs law and the DaziT digitalisation programme. It should be distinguished from the new Customs Duties Act (ZoG), which governs the substantive customs duties (amount and levying); together they replace the former Customs Act (ZG). Legislative status (planning, as of June 2026): Parliament adopted the bill in the final vote of the 2025 summer session; the referendum period lapsed unused in 2025.
