# BAZG Transport Verification

Transport verification refers to checking, before transport begins, whether a shipment is correctly documented, packed and declared — for shippers, simply put: if the papers are wrong, the goods stay put. Technically, freight forwarders and customs agents verify before the declaration that accompanying documents (waybill/CMR, packing list, commercial invoice, customs declaration), packaging and markings meet legal requirements; within the selection process the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) checks classification (customs tariff number), dangerous-goods labelling, customs procedure code and origin statements. In the Passar goods-traffic system the check is tied to the activated goods or transport declaration; if the system or a control body detects defects, this can lead to delays, penalties or rejection of the transport.
