# BAZG legacy system

> BAZG legacy systems are the older IT procedures of the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) through which imports, exports and transit movements were previously declared electronically, and which are being replaced step by step by the new Passar goods traffic system under the DaziT transformation programme.

BAZG legacy systems are the older IT procedures of the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) through which imports, exports and transit movements were previously declared electronically, and which are being replaced step by step by the new Passar goods traffic system under the DaziT transformation programme. In plain terms: they are Switzerland's "old customs applications" that are being switched off one after another. Specifically they include e-dec Export, e-dec Import, the browser solution e-dec Web and the former NCTS transit system in its old form. Binding deadlines apply for forwarders, hauliers, customs agents and trading companies: e-dec Export has already been retired – since 1 January 2026 exports must be declared via Passar Export; the last import declaration in e-dec Import is possible on 30 September 2027, after which every import runs through Passar; e-dec Web is being replaced by the Declar web application by the end of Q3 2027. Data from the legacy systems is not migrated to Passar automatically. Not to be confused with Passar itself (the new target system) or with DaziT (the overarching digitalisation programme); related terms are goods declaration (Warenanmeldung), transport declaration (Transportanmeldung) and the BAZG ePortal. Status: June 2026.
